| זְכֹ֤ר יְהוָה֙ מֶֽה־הָ֣יָה לָ֔נוּ הַבִּ֖יטָה הביט וּרְאֵ֥ה אֶת־חֶרְפָּתֵֽנוּ׃ | א | 1 | Remember, Yehovah, what is come upon us; behold, and see our reproach. |
| נַחֲלָתֵ֙נוּ֙ נֶֽהֶפְכָ֣ה לְזָרִ֔ים בָּתֵּ֖ינוּ לְנָכְרִֽים׃ | ב | 2 | Our inheritance is turned unto strangers, our houses unto aliens. |
| יְתוֹמִ֤ים הָיִ֙ינוּ֙ וְאֵ֣ין אין אָ֔ב אִמֹּתֵ֖ינוּ כְּאַלְמָנֽוֹת׃ | ג | 3 | We are become orphans and fatherless, our mothers are as widows. |
| מֵימֵ֙ינוּ֙ בְּכֶ֣סֶף שָׁתִ֔ינוּ עֵצֵ֖ינוּ בִּמְחִ֥יר יָבֹֽאוּ׃ | ד | 4 | We have drunk our water for money; our wood cometh to us for price. |
עַ֤ל צַוָּארֵ֙נוּ֙ נִרְדָּ֔פְנוּ יָגַ֖עְנוּ וְלֹ֥א לא הֽוּנַ֖ח   לָֽנוּ׃
|
ה | 5 | To our very necks we are pursued; we labour, and have no rest. |
| מִצְרַ֙יִם֙ נָתַ֣נּוּ יָ֔ד אַשּׁ֖וּר לִשְׂבֹּ֥עַֽ לָֽחֶם׃ | ו | 6 | We have given the hand to Egypt, and to Assyria, to have bread enough; |
| אֲבֹתֵ֤ינוּ חָֽטְאוּ֙ וְאֵינָ֔ם אינם וַאֲנַ֖חְנוּ אנחנו עֲוֺנֹתֵיהֶ֥ם סָבָֽלְנוּ׃ | ז | 7 | Our fathers have sinned, and are not; and we have borne their iniquities. |
| עֲבָדִים֙ מָ֣שְׁלוּ בָ֔נוּ פֹּרֵ֖ק אֵ֥ין מִיָּדָֽם׃ | ח | 8 | Servants rule over us; there is none to deliver us out of their hand. |
| בְּנַפְשֵׁ֙נוּ֙ נָבִ֣יא לַחְמֵ֔נוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י חֶ֥רֶב הַמִּדְבָּֽר׃ | ט | 9 | We get our bread with the peril of our lives because of the sword of the wilderness. |
| עוֹרֵ֙נוּ֙ כְּתַנּ֣וּר נִכְמָ֔רוּ מִפְּנֵ֖י זַלְעֲפ֥וֹת רָעָֽב׃ | י | 10 | Our skin is hot like an oven because of the burning heat of famine. |
| נָשִׁים֙ בְּצִיּ֣וֹן עִנּ֔וּ בְּתֻלֹ֖ת בְּעָרֵ֥י יְהוּדָֽה׃ | יא | 11 | They have ravished the women in Zion, the maidens in the cities of Judah. |
| שָׂרִים֙ בְּיָדָ֣ם נִתְל֔וּ פְּנֵ֥י זְקֵנִ֖ים לֹ֥א נֶהְדָּֽרוּ׃ | יב | 12 | Princes are hanged up by their hand; the faces of elders are not honoured. |
| בַּחוּרִים֙ טְח֣וֹן נָשָׂ֔אוּ וּנְעָרִ֖ים בָּעֵ֥ץ כָּשָֽׁלוּ׃ | יג | 13 | The young men have borne the mill, and the children have stumbled under the wood. |
| זְקֵנִים֙ מִשַּׁ֣עַר שָׁבָ֔תוּ בַּחוּרִ֖ים מִנְּגִינָתָֽם׃ | יד | 14 | The elders have ceased from the gate, the young men from their music. |
| שָׁבַת֙ מְשׂ֣וֹשׂ לִבֵּ֔נוּ נֶהְפַּ֥ךְ לְאֵ֖בֶל מְחֹלֵֽנוּ׃ | יה | 15 | The joy of our heart is ceased; our dance is turned into mourning. |
| נָֽפְלָה֙ עֲטֶ֣רֶת רֹאשֵׁ֔נוּ אֽוֹי־נָ֥א לָ֖נוּ כִּ֥י חָטָֽאנוּ׃ | יו | 16 | The crown is fallen from our head; woe unto us! for we have sinned. |
| עַל־זֶ֗ה הָיָ֤ה דָוֶה֙ לִבֵּ֔נוּ עַל־אֵ֖לֶּה חָשְׁכ֥וּ עֵינֵֽינוּ׃ | יז | 17 | For this our heart is faint, for these things our eyes are dim; |
| עַ֤ל הַר־צִיּוֹן֙ שֶׁשָּׁמֵ֔ם שׁוּעָלִ֖ים הִלְּכוּ־בֽוֹ׃ פ | יח | 18 | For the mountain of Zion, which is desolate, the foxes walk upon it. {P} |
| אַתָּ֤ה יְהוָה֙ לְעוֹלָ֣ם תֵּשֵׁ֔ב כִּסְאֲךָ֖ לְדֹ֥ר וָדֽוֹר׃ | יט | 19 | Thou, Yehovah, art enthroned for ever, Thy throne is from generation to generation. |
| לָ֤מָּה לָנֶ֙צַח֙ תִּשְׁכָּחֵ֔נוּ תַּֽעַזְבֵ֖נוּ לְאֹ֥רֶךְ יָמִֽים׃ | כ | 20 | Wherefore dost Thou forget us for ever, and forsake us so long time? |
| הֲשִׁיבֵ֨נוּ יְהוָ֤ה ׀ אֵלֶ֙יךָ֙ וְֽנָשׁ֔וּבָה ונשוב חַדֵּ֥שׁ יָמֵ֖ינוּ כְּקֶֽדֶם׃ | כא | 21 | Turn Thou us unto Thee, Yehovah, and we shall be turned; renew our days as of old. |
| כִּ֚י אִם־מָאֹ֣ס מְאַסְתָּ֔נוּ קָצַ֥פְתָּ עָלֵ֖ינוּ עַד־מְאֹֽד׃ | כב | 22 | Thou canst not have utterly rejected us, and be exceeding wroth against us! {P} |
