At The–Iconoclast, we^* believe that
THE UNADULTERATED PURSUIT OF TRUTH
CAN BEST BE ACCOMPLISHED
WITHOUT THE SELF–IMPOSED RESTRAINT
OF FEARING THE CONSEQUENCES!

We make no apology for holding to a world view (belief system, paradigm) centered in the authority of the Hebrew Scriptures (aka Tanakh, the 5 books of Moses (aka Torah - the 'T' in Tanakh), the writings of the prophets (aka Neviim - the 'N' in Tanakh), and the writings (aka ktuvim - the 'KH' in Tanakh)).

^* I use the proverbial "We" on this site as the style of writing I began in 2007 when starting The–Iconoclast website. At that time I just didn't feel comfortable sying "I" all the time. Unless otherwise noted, all content is mine and is copyrighted since 2007 — Robert M. Pill. Note that I reserve the right to use the personal "I" in recent and future updates!

What is an Iconoclast?

Essentially, an iconoclast is someone who destroys idols and paradigms – long held beliefs.

At http://www.the-iconoclast.org (The Iconoclast), we strive for truth, but we are aware, that in order to do so, barriers must be broken down, and we must be careful to rely on the leading of יהוה [Yehovah] with corroborating references found in His Written Torah — sourced directly from the oldest, complete manuscript of the Hebrew–Language based Jewish Scriptures, The Leningrad Codex, also known as The Masoretic Text!

We believe that no person should expect their prayers and requests to The Almighty G–d, The Creator, to be answered and affirmed positively unless first acknowledging the sovereignty of יְהֹוָה [Yehovah]

He that turneth away his ear from hearing the Torah, even his prayer is an abomination. [Proverbs 28:9]

Core Beliefs of The Iconoclast!

1. There Is But One — And Only One —
Supreme and Sovereign CREATOR — G-d (El/Elohim))!

It is our belief that He, alone, is a singular unity — ONE!

שְׁמַ֖ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יְהוָ֥ה ׀ אֶחָֽד׃

Hear, O Israel:
Yehovah is Our God,
Yehovah is one.
[Deuteronomy 6:4]

We assert that our own understanding must be informed by the written Torah, the gift of יהוה Yehovah to Israel which He gave through His servant Moses.

We believe that the Christian doctrine of "A–God–In–Three–Persons" cannot be definitively ascertained, supported nor corroborated in the written Hebrew–Language based Jewish Scriptures as found in the Leningrad Codex: the oldest complete Jewish Scriptures (Bible) in existence (circa ~1008–1009 of the common era) (aka The Masoretic Text).

Not only is He known by אֱלֹהִים [Elohim], but He is known by the name He revealed to Moses:

יהוה [Yehovah]
(The Supreme G-d (El)).

Exodus 6:2-3
וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃	ב	2	And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am Yehovah:
וָאֵרָ֗א אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֛ם אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק וְאֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּאֵ֣ל שַׁדָּ֑י וּשְׁמִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לֹ֥א נוֹדַ֖עְתִּי לָהֶֽם׃	ג	3	and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as God Almighty; but by my name Yehovah I was not known to them.

This Is The Creator, "G-d Almighty," The Supreme Elohim.
He is NOT a created being, but rather HE is the Creator of all things!

Deuteronomy 6:4
שְׁמַ֖ע יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְהוָ֥ה אֱלֹהֵ֖ינוּ יְהוָ֥ה ׀ אֶחָֽד׃	ד	4	Hear, O Israel: Yehovah our God, Yehovah is one.

Zechariah 14:9
וְהָיָ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה לְמֶ֖לֶךְ עַל־כָּל־הָאָ֑רֶץ בַּיּ֣וֹם הַה֗וּא יִהְיֶ֧ה יְהוָ֛ה אֶחָ֖ד וּשְׁמ֥וֹ אֶחָֽד׃	ט	9	And Yehovah shall be King over all the earth; in that day shall Yehovah be One, and His name one.

2. יהוה – The Supreme Elohim (G-d) – has fully and completely revealed Himself and His plan to humanity through the Hebrew Scriptures (aka Tanakh, an acronym representing the three sections of the Hebrew Bible: Torah, Neviim (Prophets), and Ketuvim (Writings)).

We acknowledge that the Christian Scriptures, aka New Testament, does inform us regarding some historical events and contains some true statements. However, it must be read with critical discernment!

Yet, we also recognize that there has been an extreme corruption to matters of belief, faith and understanding brought about through the religion(s) built upon the teachings of Saul of Tarsus (aka 'The Apostle Paul'), the absolutely false and self–proclaimed apostle (who boldly claimed to be the uber Apostle/messenger of Jesus (Yeshua)).

We believe that His (Saul of Tarsus, 'Paul's) heretical teachings, doctrine, blasphemy, apostasy and lies, etc., have resulted in the religion of Roman Catholicism and its "Protestant" offshoots. The 'Christian, False Apostle Paul Religious System' is primarily known as Christianity; but all of Christianity is actually built upon the base of Roman Catholic teaching!

As a result, just like Roman Catholicism, most derivatives of Christianity forsake the Torah of יהוה (Yehovah), forsaking His seventh day of rest (Sabbath) and His High Sabbaths (feasts), not to mention separating between clean and unclean foods; but most of Christianity keeps and practices the pagan Roman Catholic holidays such as Easter and Christmas as well as hold their worship services on Sundays, treating it as their "Holy Sabbath"!

We find it quite odd that so many of them consider that because they now "simply believe", they have thus become "the true Israel of יהוה Yehovah" – based upon the false and perverted teachings of Saul of Tarsus!

— It appears as if "followers of Paul – Christians" believe that they are clean because of their beliefs and that they think that they can now come near, approach unto, the Holy, Separated and Pure Creator of the Universe, not having the good sense to know that they are still in an unclean state.

Isaiah 59:1-3
הֵ֛ן לֹֽא־קָצְרָ֥ה יַד־יְהוָ֖ה מֵֽהוֹשִׁ֑יעַ וְלֹא־כָבְדָ֥ה אָזְנ֖וֹ מִשְּׁמֽוֹעַ׃	א	1	Behold, Yehovah's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save, neither His ear heavy, that it cannot hear;
כִּ֤י אִם־עֲוֺנֹֽתֵיכֶם֙ הָי֣וּ מַבְדִּלִ֔ים בֵּינֵכֶ֕ם לְבֵ֖ין אֱלֹֽהֵיכֶ֑ם וְחַטֹּֽאותֵיכֶ֗ם הִסְתִּ֧ירוּ פָנִ֛ים מִכֶּ֖ם מִשְּׁמֽוֹעַ׃	ב	2	But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid His face from you, that He will not hear.
כִּ֤י כַפֵּיכֶם֙ נְגֹאֲל֣וּ בַדָּ֔ם וְאֶצְבְּעוֹתֵיכֶ֖ם בֶּֽעָוֺ֑ן שִׂפְתֽוֹתֵיכֶם֙ דִּבְּרוּ־שֶׁ֔קֶר לְשׁוֹנְכֶ֖ם עַוְלָ֥ה תֶהְגֶּֽה׃	ג	3	For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue muttereth wickedness.

It's as if they had not heard nor read in the Torah about Nadab and Abihu, the eldest sons of Aaron, who came near the altar of יהוה [Yehovah] with "strange fire" — and were promptly burned to death!

Leviticus 10:1-2
וַיִּקְח֣וּ בְנֵֽי־אַ֠הֲרֹן נָדָ֨ב וַאֲבִיה֜וּא אִ֣ישׁ מַחְתָּת֗וֹ וַיִּתְּנ֤וּ בָהֵן֙ אֵ֔שׁ וַיָּשִׂ֥ימוּ עָלֶ֖יהָ קְטֹ֑רֶת וַיַּקְרִ֜בוּ לִפְנֵ֤י יְהוָה֙ אֵ֣שׁ זָרָ֔ה אֲשֶׁ֧ר לֹ֦א צִוָּ֖ה אֹתָֽם׃	א	1	And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took each of them his censer, and put fire therein, and laid incense thereon, and offered strange fire before Yehovah, which He had not commanded them.
וַתֵּ֥צֵא אֵ֛שׁ מִלִּפְנֵ֥י יְהוָ֖ה וַתֹּ֣אכַל אוֹתָ֑ם וַיָּמֻ֖תוּ לִפְנֵ֥י יְהוָֽה׃	ב	2	And there came forth fire from before Yehovah, and devoured them, and they died before Yehovah.

3. יהוה Yehovah, The Supreme Elohim (G-d), created the universe and all it contains, seen and unseen, physical and spiritual, and purposes that His creation be in union with Him, holy and sanctified.

יהוה [Yehovah] has continued to be active throughout history and His purposes will be accomplished in this world (Isaiah 43:10-13, 44:6-8}.

יהוה [Yehovah] is also active in our personal lives. At the same time, humans have free will and our choices matter.
(Deuteronomy 20:15-20, Joshua 24:14-15, Proverbs 1:28-33)

4. The creation became tarnished by sin and impacted by death.
(Genesis 6, Psalms 14:3, Proverbs 20:9, Jeremiah 16:18)

Just how did the world become tarnished by sin?

We agree with the late Dr. Michael S. Heiser that there is a Divine Council of Elohim, otherwise known as B'Nei Elohim (sons of G-d) and that that term is a designation ONLY to Angels (not man)!

We believe that there are "good" B'Nei Elohim such as Michael the Arch-Angel and Gabriel, and that there are "bad" B'Nei Elohim, whose "prince" is otherwise known as Lucifer (ha Satan – the Satan, or adversary).

We believe that some of the "bad" B'Nei Elohim left their first "estate" (see Jude 1:6) and had sexual relations with human women (see Genesis 6:2, 1 Enoch 6:1-7:1), with the effect being that the entire earth became tarnished by and through their sin and the sin of their offspring.

We believe that the judgment of the flood (Genesis 6) was a result of the "bad" B'Nei Elohim polluting the race of Adam (men) and that the Supreme Elohim spared Noah and his family as they were the last remnant of the seed of Adam not polluted by the "bad" B'Nei Elohim.

We believe that other "bad" B'Nei Elohim followed the original "bad" B'Nei Elohim after the flood to try to pollute the children of Adam.

According to the book of Enoch, the "bad" B'Nei Elohim taught mankind ways to defy the Supreme Elohim, the Creator:

The Book of Enoch, Chapter 8, describes some of this:

... Azazyel taught men to make swords, knives ...

Impiety increased: fornication multiplied; and they transgressed and corrupted all their ways.

Amazarak taught all the sorcerers, and dividers of roots:

Armers taught the solution of sorcery;

Barkayal taught the observers of the stars;

Akibeel taught signs;

Tamiel taught astronomy;

... and men, being destroyed, cried out; and their voice reached to heaven.

from Chapter 9:

...what Azazyel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon earth, and has disclosed to the world all the secret things which are done in the heavens.

... The women likewise have brought forth giants.

from Chapter 15:

... Now the giants, who have been born of spirit and of flesh, shall be called upon earth evil spirits, and on earth shall be their habitation. Evil spirits shall proceed from their flesh, because they were created from above; from the holy Watchers was their beginning and primary foundation. Evil spirits shall they be upon earth, and the spirits of the wicked shall they be called. The habitation of the spirits of heaven shall be in heaven; but upon earth shall be the habitation of terrestrial spirits, who are born on earth.

The spirits of the giants shall be like clouds, which shall oppress, corrupt, fall, content, and bruise upon earth.

They shall cause lamentation...

5. יהוה Yehovah, The Supreme Elohim (G-d), separated the descendants of Abraham, through his son Isaac (the first son born after the institution of the covenant of circumcision), and through Isaac's son Jacob to be a separated people, to keep a remnant of the original family of Adam from being polluted by the "bad" B'Nei Elohim.

יהוה [Yehovah] chose the Jewish people to receive His perfect Law (Torah) and show forth His righteousness to the nations, bringing blessing into the world. He has made a special covenant with the Jewish people, which is permanent and irrevocable.
(Genesis 17:7-9, Jeremiah 31:35-37, Jeremiah 33:20-26, Exodus 19:5-8, Exodus 24:3, Isaiah 42:1-8)

6. Up until the Summer of 2024, I considered that Yeshua (Jesus) of Nazareth was the Messiah (Mashiach) as I had assumed Daniel (Chapter 9) had predicted him to appear at around the first century.

Last summer (2024) I felt driven to better understand Daniel 9.

Previously, I had only been concerned with Hebrew cantillation at it occurs at the end of every verse in the Tanakh (as always designated by a Silluq Emperor accent).

I decided to look at the Hebrew more thoroughly, wanting to know the purpose of other cantillation marks having to do with grammar. To my surprise, I learned that the Ethnacta Emperor accent ([ ֑ ] – shaped like an upside down "u" or "v", ocurring to the left of the vowel having the word's main accent), separates longer verses into two distinct sections.

Interestingly, an Ethnacta occurs in the שָׁבֻעִ֖ים שִׁבְעָ֑ה "seven weeks" in verse 25 of Daniel 9!

Daniel 9:25

וְתֵדַ֨ע וְתַשְׂכֵּ֜ל מִן־מֹצָ֣א דָבָ֗ר לְהָשִׁיב֙ וְלִבְנ֤וֹת יְרֽוּשָׁלִַ֙ם֙ עַד־מָשִׁ֣יחַ נָגִ֔יד שָׁבֻעִ֖ים שִׁבְעָ֑ה וְשָׁבֻעִ֞ים שִׁשִּׁ֣ים וּשְׁנַ֗יִם תָּשׁוּב֙ וְנִבְנְתָה֙ רְח֣וֹב וְחָר֔וּץ וּבְצ֖וֹק הָעִתִּֽים׃

Know therefore and discern, that from the going forth of the word to return to and to build Yerushalam unto Mashiach nagid shall be seven weeks; and for sixty-two weeks, it shall be built again, with broad place and moat, but in troublous times.

Thus, contrary to prophetic teaching of Christian premillennialists where they teach that Messiah was to come after the end of the sixty-two weeks, at the Ethnacta cantillation mark the Messiah (Mashiach Nagid) is associated with the seven weeks (49 years) at the beginning of the timeline from the order given to return to and build Yerushalam!

7. We absolutely reject Saul of Tarsus, aka 'Paul', and any and all claims to his having been an Apostle of Jesus (Yeshua). Thus, we necessarily reject any religious views based upon his teachings, of which all 'Paulist' / Christian religions are founded, and of which the Roman Catholic religion is preeminent.

8. יהוה [Yehovah] fully intended for His Name to be known and audibly spoken by His people! (see our page The Name יהוה [Yehovah] In The Aleppo And Leningrad Codices).

וְשָׂמ֥וּ אֶת־שְׁמִ֖י עַל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַאֲנִ֖י אֲבָרֲכֵֽם׃
So shall they put My name upon the children of Israel, and I will bless them.'

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר יְהוָ֖ה אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֥ה לֵּאמֹֽר׃	כב	22	And Yehovah spake unto Moses, saying,

יְבָרֶכְךָ֥ יְהוָ֖ה וְיִשְׁמְרֶֽךָ׃ ס	כד	24	Yehovah bless thee, and keep thee:
יָאֵ֨ר יְהוָ֧ה ׀ פָּנָ֛יו אֵלֶ֖יךָ וִֽיחֻנֶּֽךָּ׃ ס	כה	25	Yehovah make his face to shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee:
יִשָּׂ֨א יְהוָ֤ה ׀ פָּנָיו֙ אֵלֶ֔יךָ וְיָשֵׂ֥ם לְךָ֖ שָׁלֽוֹם׃ ס	כו	26	Yehovah lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace.
וְשָׂמ֥וּ אֶת־שְׁמִ֖י עַל־בְּנֵ֣י יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל וַאֲנִ֖י אֲבָרֲכֵֽם׃ פ	כז	27	So shall they put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.

9. יהוה [Yehovah] will return at the end of time in power and glory to judge the earth! (Psalms 9:9-10, Psalms 96:13, Ecclesiastes 3:17)

Psalms 9:9–10
וְה֗וּא יִשְׁפֹּֽט־תֵּבֵ֥ל בְּצֶ֑דֶק יָדִ֥ין לְ֝אֻמִּ֗ים בְּמֵישָׁרִֽים׃	ט	9	And He will judge the world in righteousness, He will minister judgment to the peoples with equity.
וִ֘יהִ֤י יְהוָ֣ה מִשְׂגָּ֣ב לַדָּ֑ךְ מִ֝שְׂגָּ֗ב לְעִתּ֥וֹת בַּצָּרָֽה׃	י	10	Yehovah also will be a high tower for the oppressed, a high tower in times of trouble;

Psalms 96:13

Ecclesiastes 3:17
אָמַ֤רְתִּֽי אֲנִי֙ בְּלִבִּ֔י אֶת־הַצַּדִּיק֙ וְאֶת־הָ֣רָשָׁ֔ע יִשְׁפֹּ֖ט הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים כִּי־עֵ֣ת לְכָל־חֵ֔פֶץ וְעַ֥ל כָּל־הַֽמַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה שָֽׁם׃	יז	17	I said in my heart: 'The righteous and the wicked God will judge; for there is a time there for every purpose and for every work.'
