What is an Iconoclast?

Essentially, an iconoclast is someone who destroys idols and paradigms – long held beliefs).

At http://www.the-iconoclast.org (The Iconoclast), we strive for truth, but we are aware that in order to do so barriers must be broken down, and we must be careful to rely on the leading of יהוה [YehoVah] as confirmed in His Written Torah.

We believe that no person should expect their prayers and requests to The Creator to be answered and affirmed positively unless first acknowledging the sovereignty of יְהֹוָה   [YehoVaH]

BY FOLLOWING HIM ALONE —
BY KEEPING HIS TORAH —
— BY OBSERVING HIS COMMANDMENTS

Core Beliefs of The Iconoclast!

1. There Is But OneAnd Only OneSupreme and Sovereign CREATOR — G-d (El/Elohim)).

Not only is He known by אֱלֹהִים  [Elohim], but He is known by the name He revealed to Moses:
יהוה  [YehoVah] (The Supreme G-d (El)).

Exodus 6:2-3

וַיְדַבֵּ֥ר אֱלֹהִ֖ים אֶל־מֹשֶׁ֑ה וַיֹּ֥אמֶר אֵלָ֖יו אֲנִ֥י יְהוָֽה׃

ב

2

And God spake unto Moses, and said unto him, I am Yehovah:

וָאֵרָ֗א אֶל־אַבְרָהָ֛ם אֶל־יִצְחָ֥ק וְאֶֽל־יַעֲקֹ֖ב בְּאֵ֣ל שַׁדָּ֑י וּשְׁמִ֣י יְהוָ֔ה לֹ֥א נוֹדַ֖עְתִּי לָהֶֽם׃

ג

3

and I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, as God Almighty; but by my name Yehovah I was not known to them.

This Is The Creator, "G-d Almighty", The Supreme Elohim. He is NOT a created being, but rather HE is the Creator of all things! — see Deuteronomy 6:4, Zech. 14:9).

2.  יהוה  – The Supreme Elohim (G-d) – has fully and completely revealed Himself and His plan to humanity through the Hebrew Scriptures (aka Tanakh).

We acknowledge that the Christian Scriptures, aka New Testament, does inform us regarding some historical events and contains some true statements. However, it must be read with discernment!

Yet, we also recognize that there has been an extreme corruption to matters of belief, faith and understanding brought about through the religion(s) built upon the teachings of Saul of Tarsus (aka 'Paul'), the absolutely false and self–proclaimed apostle (falsely claiming to be the uber messenger of Yeshua).

We believe that His (Saul of Tarsus, 'Paul's) heretical teachings, doctrine, blasphemy, apostasy and lies, etc., have resulted in the religion of Roman Catholicism and its offshoots. The 'Paulist' religious system is primarily known as Christianity, but all of Christianity is actually built upon the base of Roman Catholic teaching!

As a result, just like Roman Catholicism, most derivatives of Christianity forsake the Torah of   יהוה  (YehoVah), forsaking His seventh day of rest (Sabbath) and His High Sabbaths (feasts), not to mention separating between clean and unclean foods; but most of Christianity keeps and practices the pagan Roman Catholic holidays such as Easter and Christmas as well as hold their worship services on Sundays, treating it as their "Holy Sabbath"!

We find it quite odd that so many of them consider that because they now "simply believe", they have thus become "the true Israel of   יהוה  YehoVah" – based upon the false and perverted teachings of Saul of Tarsus!

— It appears as if these "Paulists" believe that they are clean because of their beliefs and that they think that they can now come near, approach unto, the Holy, Separated and Pure Creator of the Universe, not having the good sense to know that they are still in an unclean state.

It's as if they had not heard nor read in the Torah about Nadab and Abihu, the eldest sons of Aaron, who came near the altar of יהוה  [YehoVah] with "strange fire" — and were promptly burned to death!

3.  יהוה  YehoVah, The Supreme Elohim (G-d), created the universe and all it contains, seen and unseen, physical and spiritual, and purposes that His creation be in union with Him, holy and sanctified.

יהוה  [YehoVah] has continued to be active throughout history and His purposes will be accomplished in this world (Isaiah 43:10-13, 44:6-8}.

יהוה  [YehoVah] is also active in our personal lives. At the same time, humans have free will and our choices matter.
(Deuteronomy 20:15-20, Joshua 24:14-15, Proverbs 1:28-33)

4. The creation became tarnished by sin and impacted by death.
(Genesis 6, Psalms 14:3, Proverbs 20:9, Jeremiah 16:18)

Just how did the world become tarnished by sin?

We agree with Dr. Michael S. Heiser that there is a Divine Council of Elohim, otherwise known as B'Nei Elohim (sons of G-d).

We believe that there are "good" B'Nei Elohim such as Michael the Arch-Angel and Gabriel, and that there are "bad" B'Nei Elohim, whose "prince" is otherwise known as Lucifer.

We believe that some of the "bad" B'Nei Elohim left their first "estate" (see Jude 1:6) and had sexual relations with human women (see Genesis 6:2, 1 Enoch 6:1-7:1), with the effect being that the entire earth became tarnished by and through their sin and the sin of their offspring.

We believe that the judgment of the flood (Genesis 6) was a result of the "bad" B'Nei Elohim polluting the race of Adam (men) and that the Supreme Elohim spared Noah and his family as they were the last remnant of the seed of Adam not polluted by the "bad" B'Nei Elohim.

We believe that other "bad" B'Nei Elohim followed the original "bad" B'Nei Elohim after the flood to try to pollute the children of Adam.

According to the book of Enoch, the "bad" B'Nei Elohim taught mankind ways to defy the Supreme Elohim, the Creator:

The Book of Enoch, Chapter 8, describes some of this:

... Azazyel taught men to make swords, knives ...

Impiety increased: fornication multiplied; and they transgressed and corrupted all their ways.

Amazarak taught all the sorcerers, and dividers of roots:

Armers taught the solution of sorcery;

Barkayal taught the observers of the stars;

Akibeel taught signs;

Tamiel taught astronomy;

... and men, being destroyed, cried out; and their voice reached to heaven.

from Chapter 9:

...what Azazyel has done, how he has taught every species of iniquity upon earth, and has disclosed to the world all the secret things which are done in the heavens.

... The women likewise have brought forth giants.

from Chapter 15:

... Now the giants, who have been born of spirit and of flesh, shall be called upon earth evil spirits, and on earth shall be their habitation. Evil spirits shall proceed from their flesh, because they were created from above; from the holy Watchers was their beginning and primary foundation. Evil spirits shall they be upon earth, and the spirits of the wicked shall they be called. The habitation of the spirits of heaven shall be in heaven; but upon earth shall be the habitation of terrestrial spirits, who are born on earth.

The spirits of the giants shall be like clouds, which shall oppress, corrupt, fall, content, and bruise upon earth.

They shall cause lamentation...

5.  יהוה  YehoVah, The Supreme Elohim (G-d), separated the descendants of Abraham, through his son Isaac and through his son Jacob to be a separated people, to keep a remnant of the original family of Adam from being polluted by the "bad" B'Nei Elohim.

יהוה  [YehoVah] chose the Jewish people to receive His perfect Law (Torah) and show forth His righteousness to the nations, bringing blessing into the world. He has made a special covenant with the Jewish people, which is permanent and irrevocable.
(Genesis 17:7-9, Jeremiah 31:35-37, Jeremiah 33:20-26, Exodus 19:5-8, Exodus 24:3, Isaiah 42:1-8)

6. We, at The Iconoclast, believe that Yeshua of Nazareth is the Mashiach predicted to appear at the appointed time by Daniel.

And, we believe that an essential objective of the Mashiach would have been to preach to the nation of Israel to earnestly RETURN to the Torah of יְהֹוָה  [YehoVah] — that which was as given through His servant Moses!

To us, it follows logically that if the person who would be the Mashiach were to be the particular messenger — in effect the spokesman of the Almighty, his focus would necessarily be to promote the special revelation of יְהֹוָה  [YehoVah], the Torah He gave to His servant Moses. We believe he would instruct them about turning away from their present (evil) ways and returning to the instructions, teachings and commands of the Torah! In short, to return to יְהֹוָה  [YehoVah].

It is our sincere desire to convey that the specially anointed messenger/spokesman of יְהֹוָה  [YehoVah] would focus especially upon following the revelation of the Torah itself, and in its broader sense the entire writings of the Hebrew Scriptures known as the Tanakh! Just as it is recorded that Yeshua quoted from more than literally the first five books of Moses, we also hold the entire Tanakh as authoritative. The word "Torah" actually does mean "teaching/instruction"!

Therefore, when we discuss the person Yeshua (whom we consider Mashiach – see Is Yeshua Mashiach?), we find that the New Testament books of Matthew and John provide significant detail that Yeshua came precisely teaching the adherence to following the Torah, which is in essence quite contrary to the actual teachings of Pauline Christianity!

It is our opinion that the followers of Saul of Tarsus, aka 'Paul' (i.e., Christians/Pauline Christianity), treat the Torah of יְהֹוָה  [YehoVah] with abject contempt and disrespect, following their de facto messiah 'Paul' based upon his seminal instruction, "...You are not under the Torah" (Romans 6:14) with all of his related anti-Torah teaching!

7. The Tanakh contains snippets of information which we can learn important detail regarding the Mashiach!

For all tables are full of filthy vomit, and no place is clean.

Whom shall one teach knowledge? And whom shall one make to understand the message? Them that are weaned from the milk, them that are drawn from the breasts?

For it is precept by precept, precept by precept, line by line, line by line; here a little, there a little.

For with stammering lips and with a strange tongue shall it be spoken to this people;
[Isaiah 28:8-11 From Jewish Publication Society Tanakh 1917]

Using the Isaiah 28 passage as just a point of reference, we understand that in order to discover truths from the Scriptures, we must do so by finding nuggets to inform our faith at many places in the text, not necessarily in one main location. With that in mind, the following references give an idea of how Messiah is found in the Tanakh:

  • Born in Bethlehem (Micah 5:2, Matthew 2:1;)
  • Born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:21-23)
as a descendant of Abraham (Genesis 12:1-3; 22:18; Matthew 1:1;),
of the tribe of Judah (Genesis 49:10;),
and of the house of David (2 Samuel 7:12-16; Matthew 1:1)
  • Herod killing the infants (Jeremiah 31:15; Matthew 2:16-18)
  • Taken to Egypt (Hosea 11:1; Matthew 2:14-15)
  • Heralded by the messenger of the Lord (John the Baptist)
    (Isaiah 40:3-5; Malachi 3:1; Matthew 3:1-3)
  • Anointed by the Holy Spirit (Isaiah 11:2; Matthew 3:16-17)
  • Preached good news (Isaiah 61:1;)
  • Performed miracles (Isaiah 35:5-6; Matthew 9:35)
  • Cleansed the Temple (Malachi 3:1; Matthew 21:12-13)
  • Ministered in Galilee (Isaiah 9:1; Matthew 4:12-16)
  • Entered Jerusalem as a king on a donkey
    (Zechariah 9:9; Matthew 21:4-9)
  • First presented Himself as King 173,880 days from the decree to rebuild Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25; Matthew 21:4-11)
  • Rejected by Jews (Psalm 118:22; 1 Peter 2:7)
  • Died a humiliating death (Psalm 22; Isaiah 53) involving:
  • rejection (Isaiah 53:3; John 1:10-11; 7:5,48),
  • betrayal by a friend (Psalm 41:9; John 13:18),
  • sold for 30 pieces of silver (Zechariah 11:12; Matthew 26:14-15),
  • silence before His accusers (Isaiah 53:7; Matthew 27:12-14),
  • being mocked (Psalm 22: 7-8; Matthew 27:31),
  • beaten (Isaiah 52:14; Matthew 27:26),
  • spit upon (Isaiah 50:6; Matthew 27:30),
  • piercing His hands and feet (Psalm 22:16; Matthew 27:31),
  • being crucified with thieves (Isaiah 53:12; Matthew 27:38),
  • praying for His persecutors (Isaiah 53:12;),
  • piercing His side (Zechariah 12:10; John 19:34),
  • given gall and vinegar to drink (Psalm 69:21, Matthew 27:34,),
  • no broken bones (Psalm 34:20; John 19:32-36),
  • buried in a rich man's tomb (Isaiah 53:9; Matthew 27:57-60),
  • casting lots for His garments (Psalm 22:18; John 19:23-24).

With this background, we declare that, as a Jew, Yeshua lived as a man without being led by sin. He completely followed the written Torah of יהוה  [YehoVah] (Psalm 110:1; see our page on Psalms 110). His soul was not abandoned in death (Psalm 16:10), He ascended into heaven (Psalm 68:19 –v18 Christian Bibles) — and will be a High Priest forever (Psalm 110:4).

Truly, it is a momentous event when a descendant of Adam turns away from and rejects the influences and teachings of the "bad" B'Nei Elohim. Thus, they acknowledge their sin, and fully embrace Yeshua as the Mashiach who teaches them to follow the written Torah of  יהוה  [YehoVah]!

8. We absolutely reject Saul of Tarsus, aka 'Paul', and any and all claims to his having been an Apostle of Yeshua HaMashiach. Thus, we necessarily reject any religious views based upon his teachings, of which all 'Paulist' / Christian religions are founded, and of which the Roman Catholic religion is preeminent.

To see our arguments against Saul of Tarsus, please see our page devoted to exposing him:

9. יהוה  [YehoVah] fully intended for His Name to be known and audibly spoken by His people! (see our page The Name   יהוה [YehoVah] In The Aleppo And Leningrad Codices).

וְשָׂמוּ אֶת־שְׁמִי עַל־בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל וַאֲנִי אֲבָרֲכֵם׃ פ
